First story – chapter three

BAZ

I walk into the living room, and find Simon on the sofa, staring at the TV. “Where is Penelope?” I ask.

“I don’t know” He answers without turning around. His voice trembles.I sit next to him, and put my hand around his shoulders. He turnes around and hugs me tight. He lays on me like that, his face buried in my shoulders. I kiss his hair, and hold him closer to me.

I don’t know what has happened between Simon and Bunce, but that’s not good. For neither of them.

“Can we go find her?” Simon lifts his head and looks at me

“Do you know where she is? Where could she be?”

“No. She said she couldn’t be here right now, and just, left” He looks so sad, and I’m pretty sure he thinks Bunce broke up with Shepard because of him, which is very possible, and very not helpful. “Have you tried calling her?” I ask

“Yes. goes straight to voicemail”

“What about Shepard? You want to call him?”
“Voicemail”
I nod and look at the air for a while.
“You think she’s fine?” He looks at me, worried.
“For sure. She’s probably just out somewhere, kicking some numpties ass or something” Now he looked even more worried. Woops.
“Can you cast a ‘Come out, come out,  wherever you are’ ?” He asks

“I don’t know, Simon. She will only get mad and not want to come back” I say.
“But, we don’t know where she is!” he looks at me with a desperate look. “She can be hurt! She can get lost! She can..” He weeps. I hug him tightly and say “It’s okay. Shhh. It’s okay. If you really want me to, I can ‘Come out, come out, wherever you are’ her.”
“No, you’re right. She’ll just run away somewhere, and then she could actually be in trouble”
He smiles at me with sad eyes and kisses me slowly. Then, someone knocks on the door, hesitantly. Simon jumps towards the door and opens it, without even checking who it is.
Bunce is standing in the hall, dripping rain water on the little rug she got from her mother a few months ago. “Where have you been?!” Simon shouts. “You’ve been gone for hours, and you wouldn’t bother calling? Texting? What the hell, Penny?”
“Relax, Snow” I tell him. “She’s only been gone for two hours. You’re not her Dad. Let her talk, for Merlin’s sake”
“Don’t tell me to relax, Baz!”
“Can you two just shut up for one second?!” She yells at us. “Look, Simon, I’m sorry I disappeared, but that’s not the point right now. Shepard’s missing. I tried calling him after I left, and he didn’t pick up, so I thought he must be mad at me, and I drove to his old apartment”

“Which is exactly what you need to do if someone doesn’t want to talk to you” I add with a sarcastic face.
“Shut up, Baz” Bunce says. “So. I was at his apartment, and I couldn’t find him, so I casted ‘Come out, come out, wherever you are’. Then I felt wind all over my face, and I heard a weird whisper coming from the same place the wind did” At the end of the last sentence, it is almost impossible to understand what she is saying because of her sobs and tearing, but when I finally get it I stand there in sad silence. “Wow. I’m sorry.” I whisper softly.
“Wait, why are we sorry?” Simon asks with a confused look on his face
“Because when someone isn’t showing up when you ‘Come out, come out, wherever you are’ them, it means that you’re doing the spell wrong, or that your magic isn’t strong enough. But when there is wind and whispers..” Her voice cracks as she speaks, and I complete the sentence for her: “It usually means that the person is either being held up somewhere with magic holding him from, well, coming out, or that he’s..” My voice gets lower and softer when I say it. “Or that he can’t show up. Because he’s dead”
Simon looks at me in shock. Penelope gets off the sofa and is walking towards her bedroom’s door. “What were you doing there anyway?” Simon asks, and looks somehow angry.
“I don’t know, Simon” she sighs. “I guess I just needed to see him”
“But you just broke up with him! What on earth would you do there?” hw asks, now standing.

“That’s not the point!” Bunce yells. “So I went to see him. Whatever. That is not the point. The point is that Shepard can be kidnapped, maybe even dead. The point is not why I went to see him again, but is if he’s fine. So if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go see if he is.” She slams the door behind her, and then starts casting spells quietly behind her closed door.

first story – chapter two

SIMON

“What the hell, Snow?” Baz bursts in our bedroom door without knocking. I don’t look up from my phone.
“I’m talking to you, Snow. Please don’t ignore me when I’m talking to you” He says
“What?” I say, throwing my phone on the bed
“You can’t do that!” He half yelles “Act up like this”
“Who said I was acting up?” I ask. “Maybe that’s just me. Who I am”
“Cut this shit off, Snow. You never fight with Bunce. Except that’s the only thing you’re doing. Is this about Shepard?” He asks
“What about him?”
“I don’t know. I’m not the one ignoring and fighting with everybody ever since he moved in here” He says with a snobbish voice, but I could see he was worried.
“It’s just.. I don’t know. She doesn’t spend as much time with me as she used to. He’s just, here. All the time. It just.. doesn’t feel like it used to be around here before he moved” I say, trying as hard as I can not to sound too jealous or whiny.
“Okay.” He says. “You want me to go get her in here?”
“No”
“You want me to go talk to her myself?”
“No”
He sits on the bed next to me and sighs softly. He comes closer and hugs me, his hands on my back. His hands are cold and nice, relaxing somehow.
“Fine, go get her.” I say after a while. “I’ll talk to her” I say with a faint smile on my face
“Oh no, she went out” He says. “I was just coming to check in on you” He laughs and kisses me softly on my lips.
Then slowly down my neck. He starts unbuttoning my shirt, his hands gentle and strong at the same time. We kiss again, and just when I’m about to take off his shirt, too, we hear the front door slams, and then something that sounds like a quiet sob. I look at Baz with a confused look and lift my shirt from the floor, where Baz threw it just a few minutes ago, put it on and walk in the living room, where I see Penny sitting on the sofa, sobbing heavily. “What happened?” I ask, worried and confused. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
She looks up and stares into the air for a few seconds, and then whispers quietly: “I broke up with Shepard”

PENNY

“Why would you do that?” Baz asked, with a surprised look on his face.
Simon just stared at me, his mouth open wide. “What?” I ask him, wiping the tears from my eyes.
“I never wanted you to do that” He says quietly.
“I know.” I say. I do know. It’s just that, in the past two weeks that Shepard has been in here, I saw Simon fading slowly, becoming the same shadow he was before we went to the trip to America.
Baz clears his throat nervously. “I’m going to hunt. I’ll be back in an our, I’ll get us something to eat”. He takes his wallet, and when he passes next to me, he puts his hand on my shoulder. Just for a second. Then he leaves.
“Penny, I’m..” Simon begins to say, but I interrupt him before he can finish the sentence
“I don’t want to talk about it. I broke up with him. What ever. Not a big dill.”
“Penny” He says, looking at me. I look away. “Penny, talk to me” He says. Again.
“No. I’m sorry. I love you, and I did break up from him for you, but I’m not ready to talk to you, especially not about that.” I sob and turn away from him. He touches my shoulder, and I shrink. I get up. “I’m sorry. I just can’t be here right now” I walk out the door, and go down the stairs.

first story – chapter one

*this isn’t a third book story, I’m just starting a story that doesn’t really have a time line and we’ll see how it goes*

BAZ

Simon is eating cereal.
I’m at Bunce’s and his apartment, Bunce is out at the grocery store and Simon is eating cereals.
“What?” He asks me when I look at him.
“Nothing” I answer. He’s got a Cheerio on his cheek, right next to his nose. I laugh and say: “You have a Cheerio on your face”
I sit next to him and kiss him. He tastes like milk. And honey Cheerios.
I band and take the Cheerio off his face and kiss him again. He wraps one of his wings around me, and band closer. We kiss, and he puts his hand on my lap.
We sit in silence for a few more minutes and then Bunce walks in. “I wasn’t sure if we had milk, so I bought some anyway” she says
“Snow just finished all of it in his cereal, so that was a smart thing to do”
“Oh, didn’t know you were here” she says. “when did you come?”
“Just now” I say. “My English class got cancelled”. Our professor had to go somewhere, and there was no point of staying in the University for one hour of chemistry at the end of the day.
“So.” I say after a while. “What are we gonna do today? Go hunt vampires? Maybe some numpties. That can be mice”
“What about staying and doing nothing all day?” Simon suggests.
“I don’t know, Shepard is supposed to come in here around four. I thought we could go eat dinner somewhere all four of us” she says with an annoyed look
Simon groans.
“Is there a problem?” She asks
“Nope” He answers, and goes to our bedroom. He slams the door shut.
“What’s wrong with him?” I ask.
“We had a fight about his supid dishes” she says, and after a second shouts: “Because he won’t put them in the bloody sink!”
“Give him some slack” I say. “He’s been down for a while now. I don’t know what happened, but since Shepard has moved in he seems a bit odd. I better go talk to him”
“Yeah, sure. go. Whatever. I’m going to find Shepard and help him.. move some things in here. He’s still got some boxes at his old place”
